Wait, wasn’t NBA 08 supposed to be out last week? Strange. Maybe it had to come out the same time as its competition?
If you have some money to burn this week, may we suggest Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow? The full review won’t be up until Tuesday morning, but it’ll get a pretty impressive score. 9.0, to be exact. Trust us. UMD movie Tekkon Kinkreet looks pretty interesting as well.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is considered largely responsible for the massive sales resurrection that PSP has experienced as of late. Unfortunately, a US release hasn’t been confirmed by the good folks at Square Enix USA. It seems inevitable, but our inquiring minds want to know: when is it coming out?
Until then, you can spoil yourself by watching this footage of Zack going against the first boss. It ends with some revealing story details, so those that want to save themselves for the final game will want to avoid clicking past the break.

God of War needs no fancy trailers. It doesn’t need clever editing to make it look cool. No, all you need from the franchise is good, uninterrupted gameplay footage. And that’s what we have here today. Watch Kratos go mano-a-mano against this Chains of Olympus boss. It doesn’t appear to be direct-feed, but it should give a good idea of the kind of fun you can expect from the upcoming UMD demo.
(Oh, and because the finale of this video is pretty brutal, you must be 17 years or older to watch it. See it after the cut.)

When you attach words like “not for resale” and “limited edition” to something, you know it’s going to end up on eBay. Already, one overzealous eBay seller has placed his demo disc up for auction. For a free disc, it’s getting a pretty penny: 1,150 of them, to be precise.
The seller says “allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.” Why? Because it’s obvious that they don’t have the disc yet. Hopefully, lostmyheadnmind, the high bidder, doesn’t mind.
[Thanks, Michael!]

One of the biggest new features for the upcoming PSP version of Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is “Etna Mode,” a retelling of the original story from a totally different perspective. Etna, as fans of the original will remember, is one of the cuter and funnier characters in the game, and it’ll be fascinating to see her side of the story. Now, even those that have played the original Disgaea will have no choice but to pick up this PSP re-release.

Sony has released a tiny application that allows you to create your own themes. Although the instructions provided on the page are in Japanese, the program actually runs in English. It’s not a very intuitive GUI, but it’ll allow theme artists-to-be the tools they need to get started. Granted, it’s a lot of work — there are a surprising number of buttons on an XMB menu.
Get to work on your theme — we’ll love to see your creations. Who knows? Maybe we’ll give away a prize for the best one …

If there’s one thing that makes anything cooler, it’s lasers. califrag from QJ has developed a proof of concept (seen above) that allows you to point a laser at the PSP screen and have the on-screen cursor follow your movement. Although it requires extra hardware, such as the PSP camera, the potential is really exciting: imagine a light gun game for your PSP, a painting application, or some DS-styled “pointing games.” Once again, the homebrew community has thought up something truly innovative and surprising.
